Everyone must experience severe abdominal pain at one stage or other in the life. The common causes can be treated easily and are not worth conscious. But, in some cases pain can be due to serious illness. You must need to recognize symptoms as soon as possible and know when to call a physician.

Common Causes of Abdominal Pain

Abdominal pain can have different causes depending on whether it is sharp pain, stomach ache or stomach cramps. The most common causes of abdominal pain include:

Symptoms of Abdominal Pain

Contact your health care provider if your abdominal pain is recurrent or severe or id it is associated with following symptoms:

  • High fever
  • Problems in swallowing
  • Signs and symptoms of dehydration
  • Problems in passing stool
  • Unusual or painful urination
  • Pain on touching abdomen
  • Pain due to any kind of injury to the abdomen
  • If the pain retains for few hours

All these symptoms directly indicate that there is something wrong inside the abdomen and needs to require medical attention as soon as possible.

Immediate medical attention is required if your pain is due to:

  • Vomiting with blood
  • Bloody stools
  • Difficulty during breathing
  • Pain during pregnancy

How Is Abdominal Pain Treated?

The treatment of abdominal depends entirely depends on its cause. The common treatment may range from medications available for inflammation, ulcers, GRED, to antibiotics used for infections, to specific changes in daily routine and personal behavior towards certain foods which are known to cause pain. If the pain is due to hernia or appendicitis then surgery is advisable.
